Full time post at BIT
The post holder’s main duties will be to teach students during their programmes at BIT, so that they achieve the equivalent of IELTS 6.5 by the end of the second academic year.

Main responsibilities:
• Teach English for General and Specific Academic Purposes to students
• Assess students’ developing competence in EAP (academic language and study skills)
• Develop students’ ability to learn independently and monitor their independent work
• Provide support to students’ language learning outside class in both self-access mode and in more informal group discussions.

Person Specification
Essential
 Advanced level of proficiency and communicative competence in English;
 Relevant TEFL/TESOL qualification (eg teaching diploma such as DELTA certified by Cambridge English Language Assessment or Trinity College London, or PGCE with TESOL or equivalent in China) ;
 Good class of degree in relevant discipline;
 At least 2 years’ experience of teaching and assessing English for Academic Purposes English language at undergraduate or postgraduate level;
 Experience of the administration of courses and modules in British / Western universities;
 Excellent organisation, communication and inter-personal skills;
 Ability to work under pressure;
 An excellent team player;
 A willingness to work flexibly as required;
 Keen to develop professionally by engaging with capacity building activities provided by the Academy.

Desirable
 Experience of teaching and assessment of undergraduate students in a Chinese university environment;
 Previous experience teaching IELTS.

Salary

Salary: 16,600 RMB per month (before tax);
BIT will cover one round-trip international air tickets and accommodation per year.
